Derek Hartmann won from start to finish in the 2nd year of the Illinois Open being part of the AMA season. He set the single round tournament record (36) in the 3rd round, the 3 round tournament record (113), and was the only player to shoot under 40 all 3 rounds. An impressive showing on a challenging/fussy course. 2nd place was decided on the 5th playoff hole between long-time friends and mini golf competitors, Tom Schweiss and Mick Cullen. They tied after 3 holes (#16-18) and in the 2nd sudden death playoff hole, Tom aced hole #2 and Mick fell just inches short of extending their battle.
Max Cullen won the youth award.
The day had excellent and dry weather in the high 70s and low 80s. Lovely day for mini golf with a field featuring a top 5 that have all won multiple AMA events.

Additional Details
This is the 2nd year of the Illinois Open being part of the AMA circuit. Ball Fore is just south of downtown Chicago and features an 18-hole course built by Harris with alternating red, blue, and green turf with a baseball theme. Ball Fore hosted the 2009 and 2012 US Open.

All registrants receive 3 passes for practice times the week leading up to the tournament
Note: If you use a conventional golf ball, you’ll have to take care not to let the ball go in the water. The water is very blue, and it’s hard to fish the balls out of the deep ponds.
