Tournament Recap: 2025 Georgia State Open / Southern Swing Pro Mini Golf #1

What a fantastic day of putting in Georgia! We were treated to great weather and tons of aces, as players from all over the US came to compete.

Pro Division Overall:

Mr Perfect Rick Baird delivered a commanding performance over five rounds to win the Georgia State Open with a total of 152 strokes. Randy Reeves finished second at 157, while David Lanham claimed third with 161.

Georgia Pro Division:

The Georgia Pro title came down to an exciting five-hole playoff between Clay Cannon—this year's USPMGA US Open Amateur winner—and Putters League regular Kevin Walter. After a tight battle, Kevin Walter emerged victorious and took home the hardware. Rock Haynes stayed steady with a 3rd place victory.

Amateur Division:

Putters League newcomer Shay Moody lit up the day with a winning 3-round total of 118, edging fellow PL rookie Dan Kunz by a single stroke at 119 in a very tight contest. Jake Asolas took home the bronze (actually we still have it Jake LOL).

Women’s Division:

Vanette Block took top honors with a 181. Susan Crane finished second, and Shannon Murphy rounded out the podium in third.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who traveled to be here and made this such a special day. There were players from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Maryland, and Nevada to name a few!

A Huge Thank You to Our Sponsors:

We cannot thank our sponsors enough for helping make this event happen. Special thanks to AREA 51 - Aurora Cineplex and The Fringe Miniature Golf—Barb, Dakota, Britt, and the entire staff—for making all of us feel so welcome and for keeping such a top-notch, enjoyable course. Your care and dedication truly show.

Thank you to Midwood Entertainment, who always has our back and provides some of the best concert experiences to our winners. To CaddyDaddy Golf for the excellent Ranger bag that Rick took home for his first-place win. And to Beaudry Engraving for always keeping us looking sharp with the beautiful, shiny hardware that makes our winners smile.

And to the American Mini Golf Alliance - AMA, we want to give you all a huge shout for having this tour as part of your events. Thank you for bringing this tour into the fold.

We couldn’t have asked for better conditions, better competition, or a better group of people. Here’s to more aces, more good times, and the next stop on the Southern Swing! See you in Jefferson City, TN at Mossy Creek Mini Golf on August 16th .... another step to the US Prominigolf Association Masters of Mini Golf!
