Justin Seymour once again proved he is the one to beat in the coastal town of Boothbay as he returned from a couple year hiatus from the tournament and worked his way to the top spot.

The Dolphin Open saw one of the biggest fields of the past 5 years (23 players started) as several new players from Maine and RI came into to challenge this 10 round event. The other challenge of the weekend was the rain, both Saturday night’s thunderstorms and Sunday’s rain showers. The thunderstorms caused the tournament organizers to move the two evening rounds and split them between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.

Anna Seymour (CT) and Kyle Courcy (ME) were the hot hands out of the gate, finishing the morning three rounds with a 101 and moving in to the afternoon as co-leaders. It didn’t take long for Justin Seymour (ME) to make his move though with a pair of 33s and with no rounds above 38, he took the lead after the first day. Besides Anna and Kyle, Mark “Highlighter” Novicki (CT) and Pat Sheridan (CT) were trying to close the gap in the final few rounds.

The rain stayed Sunday morning which meant the opening rounds of Sunday afternoon were wet for the participants with the rain finally stopping in round 10. However it helped some of the players put on their best scores of the weekend and there was some significant movement in the leaderboard, but it wasn’t enough to catch Justin. Pat Sheridan put up a day’s best 102 and moved into 3rd place, just sneaking by Anna by one stroke. Alex Cromwell (ME) scored his highest finish ever at the tournament, taking 6th place. New comer to the tournament Stephan Dulmaine (Canada) grabbed the last paying spot at 7th place, nipping fellow newcomer Brandon Robinson (RI) by one stroke.

This was Justin Seymour’s 5th win of the tournament and won $500. Courcy picked up an extra $100 for being the first to ace lane #15. He also split $100 with Dulmaine and former winner Josh Tiberio as part of the ace contest on lane 18 after the tournament.
