On a beautiful and sunny 70-degree Sunday morning, 32 competitors from 6 states played the challenging Lilli Putt Mini Golf for the first Midwest Regional Championship of the AMA.
Shawn Brown wins his 3rd Miniest Open title in the 6-year history of the tournament in dramatic fashion. Justin Gutche had a one-stroke lead going into the final hole of the tournament. Justin played a backdoor shot that left him with a long putt that he missed and gave him a 3. Shawn stepped up and aced #18 to win the tournament. Shawn’s combined first two rounds of the tournament of 48 & 47 combine for the 2nd lowest two-round total in tournament history, and Justin’s final two rounds of 48 & 48 combine for the 3rd lowest two-round total in the history of the tournament. Mark Giannini shot a superb 152 to take 3rd, and both Mick Cullen and Erik Haselius tied for 4th.
In the amateur division, Ryan Walsh wins his first AMA / A Couple of Putts amateur division title with a superb two-round total of 110. Jason Podany won the 2 hole playoff to take 2nd in the amateur division over Robin Schwartzman. Robin won the women’s division with a 116. Owen Pendleton became the repeat junior champion with a 119

AMA Scoring: Blue & Midwest Championship (2025 Scoring Details)
There will be no qualifying period again for the 6th year of the Miniest Mini Golf Open. We will have both a pro and amateur division with two rounds being played by all
Pros will all start at Hole #1 and amateurs will start at Hole #9.
Top 12 pros will play a 3rd round to determine the top finishing places.
The course record is 45 and the two-round record is 94. These records were set in the 2024 final. and The top pro scores will be in the mid 40s to low 50
Pro players will be eligible to be entered into a 4-person cash skins round (provided by A Couple of Putts) to be held in advance on Saturday, September 27th. Details to come soon but entries to be drawn into the cash skins game will be based on how early a player enters
